It was another busy week for Horwich Rmi Harriers.

From the track, the U20 Championships in England Athletics took place at the Alexander stadium, Birmingham, July 25-27. Club runner Benjamin Hall won an excellent bronze medal in the pursuit of the 3000m bell tower in 9 minutes 17 seconds.

The same weekend in Leeds, the city organized what has only become the fourth city of the United Kingdom to welcome the Full Ironman in its classic 3.8 km swim format, a 180 km bicycle and a full distance from 42.2 km marathon.

The course is a swim two towers from Lake Waterloo in Rounday Park, followed by a bicycle ride. Finally, there are four Rounday Park loops and community streets.

Two red brackets faced this powerful business with James Scott-Farrington having a superb race to finish 10th and Ryan Snee despite mechanical problems 27th in the general classification.

A classic event of the summer evening takes place in the Rosendale valley in the Lancashire which is held each year by Rossendale Harriers. A BM category event (average ascent and average distance), the 10.7 km with approximately 1,115 feet to climb the race begins at the Stubbylee park, Bacup and the route winds through broken careers and Tussocky Landes.

The runner of the fall club, Captain Dan Gilbert, finished a large race right next to the catwalks with a 4th (1st veterinarian 50) in 51:16.

Following the off -road theme, two Ultra Nick Leigh and Jonathon Bruton club runners participated in the Lakeland 50. Part of the Lake District’s Ultra tour, the Lakeland 50 covers the second half of the Lakeland 100 road, offering a 50 -me -distance challenge on the Lake District field.

Although shorter than the 100-mile event, it is not a boost with a reputation as one of the most difficult ultra-tune races in Europe: require nearly 3,000 m climb and browse unmarked trails requiring robust navigation skills. Leigh finished a superb 12th in 8:42:29 and Bruton in 38th (9:37:34).

Joe Mercer had a stellar race at Marple winning victory in 5:16:16 pm. The Taylors, Abigail and Florence ran together and finished 245th (34:16) and 246th (34:20) in Seaton.

The perennial favorite Witton Park saw Paul Murray take the 91st (43:04). With the booming summer holidays, the Haigh Hall, always popular and difficult, could only align two harriers in the ranks – Jason Middleton finishing 52nd (25:54) and Gillian Smith 214th (36:16).

He had to get into the course while Rob Jackson repeated a race for dirty water park ending in the podium positions (3rd) with a period less than 7:48 p.m. at the Ford Parkrun, Chris Charnley took 18th place (22:07).

A “smaller” crowd of 482 runners was in Peel where Louis Yates was 84th (22:56) and Steve Jackson 412th (34:08). The increasingly popular Worden Parkrun has seen nearly 300 runners with Gordon Stone as almost 30 years old, finishing 185th in 30:36. While the husband Jason appreciated the delights of Wigan, is his wife and his son opted for something more exotic.
