Frustrated cost of the number of Crystal Palace after cases confirms the ban on the Europa League

The news of Steve Parish feared arrived less than 24 hours after he bask in the glory of watching Crystal Palace win their second trophy in three months. The parish had been convinced that the club’s call against their demotion of the Europa League would succeed when he discussed their prospects at the Wembley stadium after defeating Liverpool in the community shield on Sunday.

“I’m really even more after Friday,” said club president. “I do not understand that we cannot be in competition. I really can’t. But it’s up to the judges to decide. We trust them and that they listened to everything we said, so let’s see.”

Confirmation of the Arbitration Court for Sport that it had confirmed the decision taken by the financial control organization of the UEFA club to punish Palace for breaking its multi-club property rules brought back the parish and the team fans.

The case statement clearly indicated the role of John Textor, the American businessman who sold his 43% participation last month in Palace to the owner of the New York Jets, Woody Johnson, was decisive. Textor admitted a few seconds after Palace’s victory against Manchester City during the FA Cup final in May that he feared the worst concerning participation in the Europa League, since he owned Lyon, who also qualified.

The Panel Case – Composed of a former Dutch striker, a former Swiss specialist who participated in the 1984 Olympic Games, and an Italian professor – supported UEFA’s conclusions according to which Textor “was a member of the board of directors with a decisive influence on the two clubs at the time of the date of evaluation of UEFA”. This also rejected the palace argument that they had received unfair treatment compared to Nottingham Forest and Lyon, and declared that the failure of the deadline of March 1 for Textor to place its actions in a blind trust had been crucial.

Textor was the target of the frustration of fans of most palaces, although several also targeted the owner of Nottingham Forest, Evangelos Marinakis. Forest, who is about to take the place of the Europa League of Palace, wrote to UEFA a few weeks after the FA Cup final by expressing the fact that Palace influenced multi-club property regulations.

Parish suggested last month in an interview with Gary Lineker that their Premier League rivals had played a role in the decision to prohibit them. “We were told that and I think it was made public,” he said. “These things seem to be playing in public. There does not seem to be a lot of confidentiality that leaves certain organizations. But we are led to believe that it is the problem – if there was no one who wanted to enter accordingly, then there would be no problem.

“People have to look at each other. Some people will say that it is good, some people will say that this is not the case. I don’t really have control of this. I only have control of the arguments that we have advanced to UEFA.” Forest refused to comment on the parish remarks at the time.

The palace case would have included evidence that only members of the European association of the club were informed of the UEFA March Deadline to comply with the multi -club rules could be extended until May 31 – a fact that allowed Marinakis to place the forest in blind confidence when it seemed to qualify for the Champions League with its Greek club, Olympiakos.

The palace would also have highlighted the emerging friendship between Marinakis and Textor. The American denies that he has an impact on his conduct and describes as false reports which he plans to incorporate his Brazilian club Botafogo into the club network of the Greek expedition magnate.

Forest sent a legal delegation to the case hearing to discuss their case and they remained silent since Palace was demoted by UEFA last month. Marinakis regained control of the actions of the two European champions after finishing seventh in the Premier League.

Their supporters can impatiently await the scene of the Europa League League while Palace is preparing for a conference league against losers in the Europa League qualification between Fredrikstad and Midtjylland in Norway. The Danish team led 3-1 to their legs at home on Thursday.

It is estimated that demotion will cost Palace up to 20 million pounds in income sterling, given that the scene of the League of the Conference League has two less games than that of the Europa League, although Oliver Glasner imagines its chances of winning a competition which had two winners in English in its first four editions.

The luck for Palace to play in Europe for the first time since a short -term experience of the Interototo Cup in 1998, when they qualified after being the only English team to request entry, will be the consolation of a club which also missed in 1991 when they finished third in the first division. Only the first two went to Europe via the position of the league.
