Manchester Originals defeated London Spirit to end Old Trafford losing the race

A disciplined bowling performance saw Manchester Originals ending a six -game losing race at Old Trafford while they beat London Spirit by 10 points in the hundreds of men.

Sonny Baker set the tone by opening up with five points – ending with one for 21 out of 20 balls – while the hosts sought to defend their total of 163 for five before the Couturier of England Josh Tongue weighed with three for 29.

He rejected David Warner’s danger who, after a difficult start, made 71 out of 51 to leave Spirit needing an improbable 38 on 14 bullets.

Tongue teammate in England Jamie Overton made an interesting finish with three four and a six in his 19 awarded seven deliveries, but visitors failed while Originals recorded his first victory in the competition.

The local team experienced a flying start with the Ben McKinney opener reaching 29 out of 12, with Jos Buttler (46), Phil Salt (31) and Heinrich Klaanse (24) who all carry out important scores.

The reigning champions London Spirit extended their 100% three -game record in the female competition after beating Manchester Originals with two balls to lose.

Grace Harris finished 50 not on 32 balls, but it was the new number new Sarah Glenn which held its nerve, hitting 10 on four balls, with its second border raising the winning shopping while the visitors chased the 123 necessary for the victory.

Kira Chathli had succeeded in the sleeves with 34, but Spirit seemed to be in trouble after slipping at 97 for five out of 84.

However, Harris maintained things together to set up a tense finish while Kathryn Bryce took counters in successive balls late.

Beating first, the originals had slipped to 77 for five out of 65 despite the 26 of Beth Mooney at the top of the order.

They finally displayed 122 for six thanks to a 45 -point sixth stand stand between Deandra Dottin (36) and Alice Monaghan (18), but it was not enough to prevent Spirit from going at the top of the table.
