An ultramarathon will never be for the timid and the rat castle at the castle, which Vickie Christon launched the weekend of July 19, was no exception.
The 100 miles route, designed to push the competitors to their limits, started at the Château de Bamburgh in Northumberland and the route followed the magnificent coastal path of the North, with almost 1500m of altitude gain for the arrival at the Château d’Edinbourg.

Vickie, Richmond and Zetland Harriers. Completed this epic challenge in 38h40m47 with 22 miles of that in high rain and a wind.
A much shorter competition distance on July 24 while Dales Runner organized his third and last race in the Stately Trails series in Aske just outside Richmond.

The route was on spectacular trails through private land on the exclusive area with a choice of 5 km or 10 km away.
Phoebe Haw finished 7th in the general classification, 2nd woman in the 5 km race in 25m57, and in the 10 km race, Shaun Purkiss-Mmendoo was 23rd in the general classification, 2nd MV60 in 54m47.

Laurence Corbett had so much fun that he ended up doing a few additional kilometers finishing 56th in total in 1h03m17.
Leunned less than two weeks earlier, Laurence had participated in Sting Backyard ultra organized by Team Caterpillar Running Club, the endurance event saw the participants run at least 4.2 miles per hour, every hour until there is only one standing runner.
The route started in Brompton on Swale, then admiring Richmond and Easby Abbey, Laurence made 9 laps in 8:53m55 and was 65th in total.
The last runner and winner made 28 laps.
Nearly 200 runners participated in the popular James Herriot Trail annual race on July 27 organized by the Rotary Club of Wensleydale.

The picturesque 14K route has taken Landes and Castle Bolton tracks, the weather was beautiful but with a notable headwind on the outgoing moor section.
It was a good day for the club with Nev Graham the first member in 11th place in 61m44, followed by Dan Spencer in 12th place with a time of 61m54, Mark Forrest 15th, 2nd elderly in 63m14, Paul Simpson 25th, 2nd age in 67m03 and Nicola Simpson 45th, 3rd and 2nd.
The Harriers finished the 1st place of the men’s team and the 1st place of the mixed team.
The first Ironman Leeds, the only Ironman Triathlon at full distance in England, started Roundhay Park with a 2.4 m swim in the Waterloo lake of the park followed by a 112 -thousand bicycle ride, then finished with a 26.2 miles race, totaling 140.6 miles.

Carl Jones finished swimming in 56m44 and bicycle in 6:17m17, but unfortunately due to an injury, he could not race.
Peter Alanson finished swimming in 1:27m53, by bicycle in 7:0m40 and took place in 5:08m49 with an end time of 1:56mm37, including transitions, placed it 87th M45-49 out of 147.
Pauline Whittaker was at the Monkton Stadium in Jarrow on July 28 for the 5th meeting of the Nemaa Track & Field.
In the Javelin Pauline was the 1st F55 with a 16.34 m throw, 4th F55 per 100m in 17.3 and 3rd F55 in the 400m in 1m23s.
Junior Kiki Fletcher was in Lithuania for the European Pentathlon Championships U15, she had a remarkable competition to finish 7th in Europe.

** Parkrun Roundup – Saturdays July 19 and 26 **
In Northallerton, on Saturday July 19, Amy Hartley finished fifth in the general classification and was the first woman in 19m40. Anthony Jefford arrived sixth in 20m02, followed by Ken Harker in seventh with 20m18.
In Thorp Perrow, Lauren Eadon ranked 31st in 23m52.
Several harriers competed in Darlington, where Paul Simpson finished 12th in 19m49. William Lamb finished 14th in 19m51, Laurence Corbett 21th in 20m48, Nicola Simpson 32e and first woman in 21m51 and Jonathan Simpson 33rd in 21m54. Wilf Lamb ran 23m37 for the 62nd and Lucy Goundry finished the course in 26m11, finishing 128th.

In Tyne Green, Peter Richardson ranked 43rd in 24m32.
A week later, on Saturday July 26 in Northalon, Daniel Cheeseman won first place in 16m12. Thomas O’Mahoney followed second with 16m33. Ian Christon finished fifth in 19m29, Anthony Jefford Sixth in 19m41s and Philippa Thompson 36th in 23m40.
A strong participation of Harriers participated in Fountains Abbey. Wilf Lamb finished sixth in 18m19, Isaac Lamb 10th in 19m06s and Paul Ellis 11th in 19m08. Ken Harker ran 19m44 for the 16th, William Lamb finished 29th in 20m55 and Laurence Corbett 35th in 21m18. Rebecca Smith arrived 40th in 21m26, followed by Nicola Simpson in 76th with 23m01 and Paul Simpson 77th in 23m02. Elaine Watters ran 25m59 to finish 157th, Lucy Goundry was 181st in 26m40 and Gail Smith 219th in 27m35.
In Darlington, Ian Hepworth finished the course in 33m01 to finish 275th, with Diane Adkins 351st in 38m12.

In Sedgefield, Jeremy Pattison arrived 49th in 25m23 and Jane Naylor 78th in 26m48. Peter Richardson was 31st in Wynyard Woodland in 24m29, while Hartlepool, Mark Forrest finished seventh in 18m21.
